This picture was taken by our friend, Ricke Hester, to put in the Standard Banner to announce our engagement. It was taken in front of what would become our first apartment in Jefferson City, the Carlton apartments on Ellis street.
I used to think that Paul was being a little unfair when he wrote in Ephesians 5:22, "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior." But as I have grown older, I have come to understand this part of Paul's letter to the Ephesians and am so grateful that I have had a husband like Thomas who has always loved me like Paul wrote in verse 25, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." When someone loves you like that then you can understand what Paul meant when he told wives to submit to their husbands. I am so very grateful now that Thomas is my head and that I am his wife.
