Trust and Rest
I think we all desire rest, especially in our too busy world. There are so many demands that we place on ourselves. Some are necessary but some are there only because we don't trust God. We don't trust his love for us and we are more concerned about what others think of us. We don't trust his care for us and try to do things our way instead of trusting to his time and his way. Rest requires trust. Physical rest means that we trust our shelter to keep us safe and warm during the night. Emotional rest only comes when we trust in God - his loving kindness, his steadfastness, and his forgiveness and grace.
So my words this year are to Trust first so that I can find Rest. As the Psalmist tells us in Psalm 37:3-4
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
These are some more pictures I took on my two special days of rest given to me by my wonderful, Thomas. May you learn to trust and find rest this year.
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip– he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:21-22
