This is what God the Lord says–
he who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness." Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Love must be honest and true. Hate what is evil. Hold on to what is good. Love each other deeply. Honor others more than yourselves. Never let the fire in your heart go out. Keep it alive. Serve the Lord.
When you hope, be joyful. When you suffer, be patient. When you pray, be faithful These two pictures are taken at the same place, above the Cascades at Fall Creek Falls. One was taken early one morning last July, the other was taken this past week, a week full of almost constant rain. They reminded me of the story of the fear of the disciplines during a storm on the sea. And how grateful I am that Jesus brings calm to my life of sometimes raging waves.
As they sailed, Jesus fell asleep. A storm came down on the lake. It was so bad that the boat was about to sink. They were in great danger. The disciples went and woke Jesus up. They said, "Master! Master! We're going to drown!" He got up and ordered the wind and the huge waves to stop. The storm quieted down. It was completely calm. This is a picture of the big falls at Fall Creek Falls in a way that I have never seen them. This was taken last Saturday when we arrived. There had been a snow on Thursday and it was still pretty cold. This was the first time that I have ever seen the falls with ice. By Wednesday all the ice was gone and the daffodils that Clark planted were beginning to bud. I am amazed by Great Creator who gave us seasons. Psalm 74:17 You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth; you have made summer and winter. |
