There are times when I need to go home - that quiet place where you just sit and rest and take time to listen to God. This place can be different for me at different times. Friday it meant leaving work early and going to the mountains. It was going to be a beautiful day and the only one that the weather predicts is going to be clear, no clouds. So off I went, to home. I went to Roaring Fork. This is the area of the park where my grandparents and mother grew up. It is a beautiful place with streams and home sites abandoned when families were forced to leave the park.
As I spent time with my camera I remembered an arrangement of a hymn we are working on in choir by my college classmate, Mary McDonald. We love this song and it expresses what I felt. Here is a link that I found on YouTube of a choir singing her arrangement. (Coming Home by Mary McDonald). Below are the words and some pictures of Roaring Fork.
I’ve wandered far away from God,
Now I’m coming home;
The paths of sin too long I’ve trod,
Lord, I’m coming home.
Coming home, coming home,
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love,
Lord, I’m coming home.
My soul is sick, my heart is sore,
Now I’m coming home;
My strength renew, my hope restore,
Lord, I’m coming home.
John 14:1-4
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going
Coming home, coming home,
Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love,
Lord, I’m coming home.
