One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4
I am reading a wonderful devotion book each day on the Psalms by Tim Keller. One thing I learned about this verse is that the one for gaze is more than just looking - it is a strong steady sustained focus. David found God beautiful and sought to gaze at that beauty no matter what else was clammering around him. When we can gaze at God's beauty we find rest for as vs 5 says, "he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble."
We must seek God's beauty and if we do we will find it in the smallest things. Last year I read about how you could freeze a bubble. If the temperature is cold enough, you can blow a regular soap bubble, (you know the ones you buy at the dollar store for children to blow), and have it land on snow and it will freeze. So the last snow I tried it and it worked. It took a while to get one to land just right and it was very cold in the early morning. When I looked at it, it was amazing, the intricacy of the ice crystals.
