As the end of the year got closer I began to pray about what words God would give me this year. Several things came to mind but on New Years Day I found my words for the year, Living Water of Life. I thought about the power of water in a waterfall and the peacefulness of water in a quiet stream. Water gives us life and so much more; coolness on summer days, quenching thirst on any day, the power to clean dirt away. I thought about the story of the woman at the well and the promise that Jesus made to her of living water in John 4: 13-14
"Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
So this year I want to drink the water that only Christ can give and depend on him to give me the water that I need.
One of the reasons that I love to go to the mountains is to see the beautiful streams and waterfalls. And on New Years Day Thomas and I found a beautiful new falls, Mingo Falls. I will put the pictures here and then below put the story of our day with some more pictures. There are only thumbmails below. Click on each to see the whole picture.
We traveled to the park through Gatlinburg by-pass and then up to Newfound Gap and on down toward Oconoluftee and Cherokee. There were some breathtaking vistas like this one.
So on the first day of this new year, we found a new place, and I found new words for the year. Look for many pictures of water in the year ahead.
