We just got back from spending spring break camping at our favorite campground, Fall Creek Falls State Park in middle Tennessee. One thing about camping in the spring is that not very many people are there mostly because the weather is so variable. We began the week with double layers, hat and glove and ended the week in short sleeves and lightweight hiking pants. For me it is a time of peace and rest.
Another thing that I like about camping at this time of year is that you can see everything. There are no leaves hiding the trees. Every tree is a sculpture. Only the daffodils are blooming, but they bring the promise of spring and new life.
In the spring there are places that you can go to that you can't get to when all the tree and bushes are full of leaves. One of the spots that I have come to love is above the Cascades. There is is this large rock and a quietness in the water. I have taken pictures there before but only looking from a distance, but this time because the water was low and there was no foliage to fight I actually made it to the rock and found a new little waterfall. A new thing that I never expected to see.
I am grateful that I live in a place where I can see seasons change. Each season has its purpose and place. Spring is a time of new beginnings and we are promised new life through Jesus Christ.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
But according to his promise we are waiting for a new heaven and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 2 Peter 3:13
Thanks to my friends Clark and Shirley who planted the daffodils in the campground for all to enjoy.
