One of these pictures I took at sunrise and one I took at sunset. I got to thinking about how many pictures that I have seen of beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Photographers call time right before and right after sunrise and sunset the magic hour. It is the time when the light is the softest and makes great pictures. It is the time that God paints the sky. I started to wonder if there was anyway you could tell if a picture was taken at sunrise or sunset. Can you tell which one of these is the sunrise?
God gives us both sunrises and sunsets, everyday and also in our lives I think. In our lives we have both sunrises and sunsets and I am not always sure that we know which is which. This week was the first week of school. I got to teach a class again for the first time since October 4, when I fell. It was a very good day. It was a sunrise, a new beginning. It made be think about the very familiar verse 2 Corinthians 2:17 - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" I am thankful for a new semester, a new sunrise. I am more thankful for being a new creation, that God takes away the old. I am thankful for the new beginnings he gives us and for bringing things to an end sometimes.
