Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia!
Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross,
the grave,
the skies,
Alleluia!
This is the last verse of Christ the Lord is Risen Today. I am not sure why the words to this hymn mean so much to me but for me, this song is the story of Easter. Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia! Following our exalted Head, Alleluia! Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia! Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia! This is the cross at our church that we fill with flowers every Easter. In the background is the stained glass window that I saw for the first time on Easter Sunday, 1988 - 3 years after we lost our church to fire and about 2 months before Meredith was born. I can't believe it has been so long since I posted. I was really going to try to post at least once a week. this has been a difficult and busy month. Right after my last post, my Papa Ball passed away. It was sad and joyful at the same time. I will miss him and he and Mama Ball have been such a big part of my life for so many years. I will always miss their presence, especially at birthdays and Christmas, but I know that they are together now, never to be parted. As the words from the song "For Good" say they are "like a handprint on my heart." School has also been very busy. I have come to the point in edtech where I have to create a lot of lessons. So I am creating and grading, which is something I try to avoid. Right now I am caught up, but there are projects coming in after break and advising is next week. . Canon T3, 24-105 lens 1/1250 sec at f/4 ISO 200 But then came Spring Break. We spent it - as we have done for the past several years - camping at Fall Creek Falls. We were in Site 214, next to Clark and Shirley. This year was a little different because it has been so very cold. There was nothing in bloom, not even buds on trees. It was also very cold, below freezing at night. We even had to come back a day early because they were expecting sleet and ice and were salting the roads. We didn't want to get stuck so we came back late Thursday. Driving and parking the camper in the dark was a new experience. It did take a little longer then usual but we made it. Even though the weather was cold we did have some glorious blue skies. Tuesday morning I had a special time to shoot. There was a big rain all day Monday and I thought that just maybe there might be fog at the falls. And I was right, boy was there fog. It was so much fog that you couldn't really see the Falls, but the fog made it beautiful in unexpected places. I took this picture at the overlook but looking the other way and not looking at the falls. In the distance was the sun rising through the fog and over the cliffs. The tree seemed to frame the picture. God gives us unexpected joys, things we don't expect to find, but there they are. Photography has helped me to see this in new ways. I am thankful for my camera and what photography has taught me about God's world. He gave me rest in a beautiful place. And even though I have been here hundreds of times, on this day He made it new for me. He will always make things new. He even makes us new: 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old is goine, the new is here." May God make you new and give you new things to see in favorite places. |
